Football widows up to no good during Euro 2012

According to new reports, the writing is on the wall, and just in time for the Sunday quarter final: if you’re tired of being a football widow during Euro 2012, go ahead and start an extramarital affair.

Extramarital dating sites have been reporting massive upticks in membership levels as the tournament has unfolded. One such football widow, a 35 year old Mancunian identifying herself as only ‘Sarah,’ says that she’s used an online dating service to look for ‘some fun’ to escape feelings of rejection and abandonment while her husband can’t take her eyes off the television.

Sarah became fed up with coming in second to the football tourney, making the decision during England’s first Euro 2012 game to strike off on her own to find her own fun. She reported getting ‘a huge buzz’ sitting on the same sofa as her husband was, filling out her personal profile on the dating website as he had his eyes glued to the match.

Strangely enough, Sarah says this is probably the best way to avoid the breakdown of her seven-year marriage with her husband. Not wanting to split up the family and unsettle their children – and professing to love her husband despite her abandonment issues – Sarah says she simply craves ‘some light relief’ in order to make the partnership work.

Sarah reports having gone on two dates since signing up for the dating website. While she hasn’t gone any further than that, she does readily admit that she most likely will once she meets the ‘right guy.’ However, the 35 year old wife and mother claims that she is taking steps to prevent being caught out, claiming that ‘it’s just a lot of fun’ at the moment.
