Don’t cheat on a site for singles, new research says

More than half of people in the UK say that cheating on your spouse by looking for a good time on a dating site targeted ad singles is a good way to get yourself in hot water, according to a recent survey.

54 per cent of those surveyed in a new survey said that people looking for an affair should frequent a dating website that caters to their particular tastes. The new research study, which surveyed more than 1,000 Brits from across the UK, were not necessarily always concerned with propriety, as 49 per cent of respondents said that they agreed that sometimes one partner (or even both partners) simply could not or should not be monogamous.

There were several situations, according to those surveyed, where it would be considered permissible to engage in an extramarital affair. 46 per cent of respondents said doing so made sense if both partners consented to the action, while an additional 24.8 per cent said that partners that no longer wish to have an intimate relationship with each other but wish to remain married for the sake of their family should be permitted to have extramarital affairs as well, and 16.1 per cent of UK adults said that it was acceptable if both partners were participating in a sexual fantasy.

While it may not be the most palatable thought that there are niche dating sites for those looking to have an affair, experts say that the British public is not necessarily so judgmental of the activity if it is done with consent, or because of barriers to divorce. With the cost of a divorce unfortunately out of reach for many families in the current economic landscape, it’s only natural to allow two individuals to pursue happiness, as long as everything’s out in the open.
