55% of Christians believe in love at first sight

One of the biggest Christian online dating sites, ChristianMingle.com, spurred on by St Valentine’s Day, asked single people a few questions to do with love. The business discovered quite a few unexpected results, which included a fact that men are actually more romantic than women.

A whopping 58 percent of male respondents said that they really believed in love at first sight. This was compared to 53% of women.

The dating site’s manager, Ashley Record, said that the results were quite a surprise, as the responses seem to be contrary to what might be expected and did not fit into the normal expected beliefs of men and women.

While the idea of achieving love at first sight sounds quite charming and romantic, it is not that realistic for singles to believe this.

Record stated that even though he thought the attraction part was important and a great way to kick-start a relationship, ChristianMingle pushes the notion of getting to know a potential partner over a period of time before committing to a more permanent situation.

The ChristianMingle membership can get to know each other through communication channels supported online like Email, IM and the use of Message Boards, and even benefit from the tools ChristianMingle has made available like the Readiness Test, which helps the potential partners to get an assessment of their compatibility to each other. These types of communication tools help Christians to approach each possible relationship in a more profound way.

Another snippet of information revealed in the survey stated that more than 45 percent of Christian singles still thought that there was only one true match in the world, just for them.

Timothy Keller, a well respected Christian spokesperson, thinks that some people have expectations that are far too high when trying to select a suitable partner. He said that as no two people are perfect, a marriage has to develop and grow if it wishes to become stable. He views the power of God as the driving force behind the success of a marriage.
