Online LDS dating sites grow in popularity

Latter Day Saints online dating sites are becoming very popular amongst their own faith.

Janey, previously a baby minder in the USA, was having difficulties forming relationships with males of a similar age in her small Latter Day Saints church.

From the suggestion made by her room mate, she made the decision to write a profile for an online dating website. She was very select in what she wished for: a temple attender, tall, lean and university educated. The search came up with 5 possibilities. A particular individual, Mike Jones, stood out so she decided to send him a message. Today they are now in their 6th year of marriage.

According to a relatively recent US study, twenty percent of relationships start online. A large number of LDS members have gained success with online dating, through various sites which include LDSinglesmatch.com and plentyoffish.com.

The Director of LDSingles and christianmingle, said members of the LDS faith who think that online dating is not natural or something to be humiliated by would be quite dumbfounded at the large volume of individuals who have successfully formed a relationship through an online meeting.

“It’s a simple and fun filled method of meeting individuals who share the same faith,” he said. “LDSingles is a platform where single people can go out and meet up with other singles without their families continually nagging at them to tie the knot. We wish to ensure we have a united place where solo members of LDS feel secure and unique and take however long it takes to get to know each other.”

Janey said she was led into online dating because of the lack of suitable men in her close community. Online dating lets individuals establish the profile of the unique person they would like to have as a partner.

She says, “Ensure you present the truth on your profile and have a chat with any possible partner before you make a date to meet for a little while before you meet. It can be quite difficult to begin with, but it’s the right way to sieve out the ones you do not like before you get to the best fit.”
